Job summary

Pertemps London is recruiting a hands-on Painter & Decorator / Maintenance Operative for a busy student accommodation site in London on a temporary 1-month contract. You will prepare rooms and communal areas to a high standard, ensuring residents enjoy a clean, safe living environment.

The role requires strong painting/decorating skills, basic DIY and maintenance abilities, and the ability to work independently. 37.5 hours per week, 9:00am–5:00pm, Mon–Sun (5 days per week).

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Painter & Decorator, Multi-Trade Operative, Handyperson, or Maintenance Operative.
  • Strong painting and decorating skills with surface preparation, filling, sanding and finishing work.
  • Basic DIY and maintenance skills, including minor repairs and general handyman duties.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Comfortable using a mobile device or tablet to update jobs.
  • Friendly and professional approach with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out painting and decorating works across student bedrooms, communal areas, and shared facilities.
  • Prepare surfaces including sanding, filling, and minor repair work before painting.
  • Complete touch-ups, redecoration projects, and refresh works to maintain the appearance of the property.
  • Undertake basic DIY and general maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
  • Update completed works using internal systems where required.
  • Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents and site staff.
  • Support the wider facilities team with general upkeep of the accommodation.

Location: London
Start Date: 24th August 2026
Contract Length: Temporary Assignment Until October 2026
Pay Rate: £15.44 per hour PAYE
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Sunday (5 days out of 7)

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Painter & Decorator / Maintenance Operative to join a busy student accommodation site in London on a temporary 1-month contract.

This is a hands-on role ideal for an experienced painter and decorator who also has basic DIY and maintenance skills. You will play a key role in preparing rooms and communal areas to a high standard, ensuring residents enjoy a clean, safe, and well-presented living environment.

Key Responsibilities
