Job summary

MD Group is seeking an experienced Painter & Decorator to join our property maintenance teams in Bristol. You will carry out painting, decorating and refurbishment works across occupied and void properties, ensuring safety and high-quality finish while delivering excellent customer service to residents and clients.

The role requires a recognised painting and decorating qualification or substantial hands-on experience, along with good health and safety practices and familiarity with mobile job

Qualifications

  • Recognised Painting & Decorating qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent) or significant time-served experience.
  • Proven experience painting, decorating and refurbishment in residential properties.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Good health and safety awareness and practices.
  • Experience using mobile working technology or job management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out painting, decorating and refurbishment works across occupied and void properties.
  • Prepare surfaces including filling, sanding and priming.
  • Apply finishes: emulsion, gloss, stain, varnish, wallpapering; redecorate after repairs.
  • Maintain professional relationships with residents and clients; deliver high quality workmanship.
  • Adhere to health and safety, risk assessments and company procedures.

Are you an experienced Painter & Decorator looking for a new opportunity within a growing and successful property maintenance business?

MD Group is seeking skilled and customer-focused Painter & Decorator’s to join our operational teams delivering responsive repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works across our social housing and public sector contracts.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established organisation where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality carpentry repairs, outstanding customer service and right-first-time solutions for our clients and residents. You will be provided with a company van, uniform, equipment and ongoing training and development opportunities.

  • £15.38 per hour (31,990.40 per annum)
  • Up to 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)

The Role

As a Painter & Decorator, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of painting, decorating and associated refurbishment works across occupied and void properties, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service whilst ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements and health and safety legislation. You will take pride in delivering quality workmanship and maintaining a right-first-time approach to service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out painting, decorating and associated refurbishment works across occupied and void properties
  • Prepare surfaces including filling, sanding, making good defects and applying primer where required
  • Apply a range of decorative finishes including emulsion, gloss, stain, varnish and wallpapering
  • Undertake redecoration works following repairs, maintenance activities and refurbishment projects
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with residents and clients
  • Identify and report additional repair requirements or health and safety concerns
  • Ensure materials are used effectively and in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition
  • Work in accordance with Risk Assessments, Method Statements and safe systems of work
  • Wear appropriate PPE and comply with all company health and safety requirements
  • Participate in training, toolbox talks and development activities
  • Promote MD Group values and standards through professional conduct and workmanship
  • Recognised Painting & Decorating qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent) or significant time-served experience
  • Proven experience carrying out painting, decorating and refurbishment works within residential property environments
  • Experience preparing surfaces and applying a range of decorative finishes to a high standard
  • Good understanding of responsive repairs, planned maintenance and property refurbishment activities
  • Experience working within occupied properties and customer-facing environments
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices
  • Experience using mobile working technology, PDAs or job management systems
  • Experience working within social housing maintenance contracts
  • Experience working within occupied residential properties
