Job summary

Equans is recruiting a Painter and Decorator for the Avon and Somerset area. The selected candidate will undergo Avon and Somerset Police Vetting (about two weeks) before starting. A full uniform is provided and a pool van will be available once clearance is granted.

£19 PAYE. This is likely a longer assignment as part of a 5 year lifecycle of works with the end client. Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, setting up works, maintaining the workspace, and complying with safety rules.

Qualifications

• Recognised painting and decorating qualification (C&G/SVQ3 or equivalent).
• Background in painting and decorating with practical experience.
• Knowledge of AMES taping and related techniques.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from instructions, drawings and specifications for the trade.
• Set up new work using appropriate tools and equipment, without supervision.
• Maintain workshops and working environment in a clean, safe condition.
• Work from towers, MEWPs, ladders and step ladders as required.
• Carry out unsupervised maintenance and report defects or issues.
• Be prepared to learn new techniques through training as needed.
• Understand safety rules and regulations for Equans and statutory bodies.
• Operate within the scope of maintenance across clinical areas when required.
• Maintain understanding of inter-relationships between maintenance trades.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Painter and Decorator in the Avon and Somerset area.

The selected candidate will need to complete Avon and Somerset Police Vetting process before starting in position (takes c. 2 weeks). The candidate will also receive full uniform for position and use of pool van, once clearance has been granted.

£19 PAYE

Likely to be a longer assignment as this is part of a 5 year lifecycle works with the end client.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.
• Set up new work appropriate to his/her own trade using relevant tools, equipment and machinery, without supervision, as appropriate to his/her grade.
• To maintain workshops and working environment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
• Where required, work off tower scaffolding, MEWP's, ladders, and step ladders.
• To carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances to the Charge Hand or Building Manager.
• Requirement to learn new techniques with training* as necessary.
• Scope of work will include entering Mortuary, ITU's, A&E admissions, Operating Theatres etc after reporting to Trust Staff. Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances could be encountered.
• To understand the general working of the Equans Estate, so that work can be carried out in the most efficient manner, pro-active in developing new ways of working.
• To understand fully the inter-relationship between various maintenance crafts.
• To be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions. This can involve frequent disruption to work patterns.
• To be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory.

Qualifications

• Required qualifications are an appropriately recognised C&G, Scotvec (SVQ3), or equivalent.
• The maintenance painter/decorator must have a background in painting and decorating.
• Will have a good working knowledge of painting and decorating services, including AMES taping
