Job summary

Babcock is hiring a Vehicle Paint Sprayer at Bovington, near Wareham, Dorset. You will refurbish military vehicles, applying spray coatings and performing surface prep to meet exacting standards.

The role offers a full-time, permanent opportunity with flexible patterns: four days (Mon-Thu) or five days per week, on-site at Bovington. A security check (SC) is required, with training provided where needed.

  • Valid Full UK Driving Licence

  • Prepare vehicle and equipment surfaces through masking, washing, blasting, filling, and sanding activities
  • Clean surfaces using degreasers and other appropriate agents to ensure paint readiness
  • Apply coatings through spray painting techniques to meet quality and finish standards
  • Complete patch painting and rolling activities where required
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality throughout the refurbishment process

The role

As a Vehicle Paint Sprayer, you'll play a vital role in supporting the refurbishment of military vehicles and equipment that help protect national security. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your specialist paint spraying skills in a unique engineering environment, where your work is highly visible and directly contributes to the quality, performance, and presentation of critical defence assets. You'll be part of a skilled team, developing your expertise while supporting projects that make a real difference.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
  • Prepare vehicle and equipment surfaces through masking, washing, blasting, filling, and sanding activities
  • Clean surfaces using degreasers and other appropriate agents to ensure paint readiness
  • Apply coatings through spray painting techniques to meet quality and finish standards
  • Complete patch painting and rolling activities where required
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality throughout the refurbishment process

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

The role is based on site at Bovington, working 37 hours per week. Flexible working patterns are available, with the option of either a four-day (Monday to Thursday) or five-day working week.

Essential experience of the Paint Sprayer:
  • Experience in spray painting, industrial painting, surface preparation or coating application
  • Valid Full UK Driving Licence
Qualifications for the Paint Sprayer:

No formal paint spraying qualification is required. Training and certification will be provided for the successful candidate

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
