Job summary

Holt Engineering Ltd in Poole is seeking an experienced Paint Sprayer to join our manufacturing team. You will prepare components and apply primer and finish coats to exacting standards in our paint shop, following MTDS and drawings.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of industrial painting experience, familiarity with stove enamel, epoxy/polyurethane, acrylic systems, and a keen eye for quality finishes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in industrial paint spraying.
  • Experience preparing components to a high standard before final paint.
  • Knowledge of paint film thickness and gloss levels.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings for masking requirements.
  • Ability to produce high-quality, inclusion-free painted finishes.

Responsibilities

  • Apply primer and finish coats to a high standard per process instructions and MTDS.
  • Prepare components through masking, prepping and flattening.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings for painting requirements.
  • Follow MSDS and maintain safe practices in a hazardous environment.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure highest quality standards are met.
  • Complete paint mix records accurately.
  • De-mask and pack finished products as per procedures.
  • Support colleagues with lifting/moving components safely.
  • Maintain spray booths, flattening booths and ovens.
  • Work to production schedules and daily work lists.
  • Maintain accurate MRP bookings and time records.
  • Assist with spray booth maintenance, including filter changes.

Job description

I am recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Paint Sprayer to join their established manufacturing team based in Poole.

My client designs and manufactures high-quality engineered products for the global defence and maritime sectors, delivering robust, precision-built solutions that are relied upon in demanding environments around the world. They are now looking to add a skilled Paint Sprayer to their Paint Shop team to support continued production growth and maintain the exceptionally high standards their customers expect.

As a Paint Sprayer, you will play a key role in preparing and finishing components to an exceptionally high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in producing quality work, enjoys working as part of a close-knit manufacturing team and has experience with industrial paint spraying processes.

The successful Paint Sprayer will be responsible for:
  • Applying primer and finish coats to a high standard in accordance with process instructions and manufacturer technical data sheets (MTDS).
  • Preparing components through masking, prepping and flatting as required.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to understand painting and masking requirements.
  • Following manufacturer safety data sheets (MSDS) and maintaining safe working practices within a hazardous environment.
  • Inspecting completed work to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved.
  • Completing paint mix record cards accurately.
  • De-masking and packaging finished products in accordance with company procedures.
  • Supporting colleagues with lifting and moving components safely.
  • Keeping spray booths, flattening booths and ovens clean and well maintained.
  • Working to production schedules and daily work lists.
  • Maintaining accurate MRP bookings and recording time correctly.
  • Assisting with spray booth maintenance, including filter changes when required.
  • Supporting other operational activities as requested by the business.
To be considered for this Paint Sprayer position, you should have:
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in industrial paint spraying processes.
  • Experience preparing components to a high standard before final paint.
  • Knowledge of paint film thicknesses and gloss levels.
  • Experience working with stove enamel, 2-pack epoxy/polyurethane and acrylic paint systems.
  • The ability to produce high-quality, inclusion-free painted finishes.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings for masking requirements.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to inspect your own work.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A reliable, punctual and proactive approach to work.
  • Previous MOD or defence manufacturing experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
