Join to apply for the Paediatric Ward Sister/Charge Nurse role at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

Working in conjunction with the Clinical Manager, nursing staff, paediatricians, service users, and the Directorate and Divisional senior management teams, the post holder will coordinate, prioritize, delegate appropriately, and organize the safe and effective running of the department on a day-to-day basis.

The department includes Ward 3 and the Paediatric Assessment Area at Calderdale Royal Hospital, and Ward 4 at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The post holder will undertake delegated non-clinical duties to support quality, safety, and service improvement in accordance with the Trust's vision and values.

Responsibilities include:

1. Coordinating the ward area to ensure a seamless and timely pathway of care for children and families.
2. Managing roster allocation for present and future shifts to ensure safe staffing levels in line with the workforce model.
3. Ensuring the provision of compassionate, safe, and high-quality care for all patients.
4. Leading the multidisciplinary team daily, using resources efficiently.
5. Supervising junior staff to deliver quality care and manage straightforward and unplanned, complex cases, including supervising staff to gain competence per training policies.
6. Leading in delegated non-clinical duties for effective ward management.
7. Working on a rotational basis at HRI to maintain audit and performance standards.
8. Escalating concerns about patient safety, quality, and experience in a timely manner to appropriate senior management, offering solutions and evidence-based recommendations.
