Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to provide specialist paediatric services across BCYP Special Schools and Early Years settings. You will assess, diagnose and manage speech, language and swallowing difficulties, collaborating with families, education staff and the multidisciplinary team.

The role supports ALN processes, IDPs and HAN plans where appropriate, with opportunities to supervise Band 5 therapists and support staff.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration required.
• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy required.
• Significant post‑registration experience expected.
• Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and across teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for paediatric speech, language and swallowing needs.
• Offer advice and support to children, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to ALN processes, IDPs and statutory requests where appropriate.
• Support supervision and development of junior SLTs, healthcare assistants and students; engage in teaching and MDT training.
