Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications for an Orthotist specialising in paediatric orthotics at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. You will deliver specialist paediatric orthotic services across local and national areas, and manage an independent caseload in a dynamic paediatric service.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care, while developing your skills through ongoing professional education and clinical innovation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics or an equivalent qualification.
• HCPC registration.
• Experience working in paediatrics.
• Proficient orthotic rectification skills.

Job description

The Role

Due to a service change within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Orthotist to specialise in paediatric orthotics as part of an experienced and motivated paediatric orthotic service team. Based at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, the post offers the opportunity to work within a specialist paediatric service covering local, regional, national and specialist services. The role is supported by dedicated Paediatric Rehabilitation Technicians and on-site technical facilities, enabling high-quality clinical care and orthotic provision.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Permanent, Full-time

Shift pattern - 07:30-17:30 or 08:30-16:30 Monday - Friday

Base location - Royal Hospital for Children

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

Essential

• Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics, or equivalent qualification.
• HCPC registration.
• Experience working in paediatrics.

Desirable

• Experience in:
  • Upper limb trauma management
  • Cerebral Palsy (CP)
  • Spinal conditions
  • Chest wall conditions
  • Craniofacial conditions
  • KAFO, HKAFO and RGO management (Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses, Hip-Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses and Reciprocating Gait Orthoses)
