Job summary

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to work in paediatrics across East Sussex. This community-based role includes clinics, nurseries, schools and home visits with a hybrid-working model.

You will drive multi-agency collaboration, deliver assessments and interventions for children aged 0-19 with diverse needs, and contribute to the CITES. A car driver is essential; you will uphold professional standards throughout.

Qualifications

• Experience in paediatrics or interest in working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or neurodiverse needs.
• Ability to work autonomously with a defined caseload.
• Strong communication with children, carers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a defined caseload and provide occupational therapy assessments and treatments to children.
• Assess, plan and deliver therapy and evaluate and develop services for children.
• Work as an integral member of the Children’s Integrated Therapy and Equipment Service (CITES).
• Maintain and uphold professional standards and adhere to codes of conduct.
• Communicate effectively and negotiate with children, carers and colleagues to ensure the best outcomes.
• Develop skills to motivate clients/carers to engage in therapy.
• Produce reports for other disciplines or agencies.
• Apply clinical reasoning to monitor and prioritise caseload.
• Develop ability to conduct, score and interpret specialist paediatric assessments.
