Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Nursery Nurse to join the paediatric team. You will provide play preparation, distraction and support to children, young people and families, working two days a week (Monday and Friday) across Emergency and Children’s departments.

Join a multidisciplinary team in a Trust committed to compassionate care. The position is part-time (15 hours/week) with alignment to NHS Band 4 pay scale and opportunities to develop within Children’s services.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Childcare and Education Qualification (e.g. NNEB, NVQ Level 3, B-TEC or equivalent)
• Experience with children/young people in a hospital setting
• Experience with children/young people with additional needs/neurodivergent conditions
• Experience with children/young people with mental health needs
• 2 years post qualifying experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Assist the registered practitioner in providing high quality compassionate care to patients/relatives and their carers
• Use play and recreational interventions to support children in the healthcare setting
• Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure play opportunities for every child/young person
• Comply with Trust values and patient safety policies
