The NHS is seeking a Paediatric Epilepsy Clinical Nurse Specialist for their service at Royal Berkshire Hospital. The successful candidate will provide specialized care, support interdisciplinary training, and manage complex cases involving children with epilepsy. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the services and develop pathways for integrated care within the community.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic band 7 nurse who acts as a positive role model and advocate for the Paediatric Epilepsy service within Royal Berkshire Hospital.
You will be able to provide specialist, interdisciplinary education and training to other staff, children and young people and their families and wider personal needs.
Works strategically to influence the development of the service both locally and nationally.
Leads clinical audits with Epilepsy
Participates/facilitates/undertakes research and projects centered around Epilepsy and the improvement and change within this service
Managing a complex caseload of CYP with epilepsy who require co-ordination of care across multiple settings and services.
Undertaking wider system-level roles to support horizontal and vertical integrated care:
o Ensuring, and establishing where required, relevant referral pathways into services such as mental health care, tertiary neurology and neurodevelopmental services.
o Supporting transition of YP into adult epilepsy services, specifically YP with complex epilepsy requiring a multidisciplinary team approach.
o Liaising with community paediatric services in the management of CYP with learning disability and autism (LD&A). For example, this may include establishing and supporting any out-reach clinics in residential school settings.
o Developing a sustainable model for training schools in the use of emergency medications

We are looking for individuals who are experienced in caring for children and young people with epilepsy, and who possess the skills required to work proactively and take the initiative to provide the best care for children and young people with Epilepsy.
