Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is recruiting a Paediatric Consultant with a special interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine for Lister Hospital, Stevenage. The post combines PEM with acute general paediatrics in a hybrid arrangement, requiring PEM experience and commitment to high standards in emergency care.

Responsibilities include managing the Children’s ED, training EM trainees, and leading quality improvement, audits, and research while supporting departmental strengths

Qualifications

• Interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) or within 6 months of CCT.
• Member of RC Paediatrics or equivalent level qualification.
• BLS trained and safeguarding level 3 completed.
• APLS/EPALS/NLS instructor status preferred.
• Postgraduate degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Cover rapid access and general paediatric clinics.
• Participate in Consultant service weeks and 1:12 on-call rota.
• Lead PEM care in the ED and train EM trainees and nurses.
• Driving quality improvement, audits, and research in PEM.
