Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking a Band 6 Paediatric Audiologist to deliver high-quality audiological assessments for children 0–19, including those with complex needs. The role requires autonomous decision-making and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team across community and hospital settings.

You will contribute to service development and travel between sites, with Bath as the main base. Relevant paediatric audiology qualifications and HCPC registration are essential.

Qualifications

• MSc in Audiology or MSc Clinical Science (Neurosensory Sciences), Audiology modality or BSc in Audiology with evidence of up-to-date paediatric audiology training
• Certificate of Audiological Competence or BAA HTS / STP or equivalent specialist clinical experience
• Registered with HCPC (Audiology) or AHCS (Audiologist)
• Evidence of CPD
• Current driving license
• 2 years post-registration paediatric audiology experience
• Experience coordinating and running own paediatric audiology clinic
• Experience of behavioural hearing assessment
• Experience of child/family-centred care
• Experience with children and families with other disabilities
• Commitment to HCRG Care Group values
• Ability to work autonomously and in a multi-disciplinary team
• Excellent verbal and written communication in diverse settings
• Knowledge of paediatric audiology practices and clinical governance

Responsibilities

Band 6 Paediatric Audiologist

Are you a compassionate and motivated Audiologist with a passion for improving the lives of children and their families? We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Paediatric Audiologist to join our friendly and supportive team, providing high-quality, family-centred audiological care. The post holder will be responsible for providing an audiological assessment service for children aged 0 to 19 years including children and young people with complex needs. The post holder is required to work autonomously and to make decisions about the management of the children that they see in clinic. They will be required to work in a multidisciplinary team alongside Associate Audiologists, Paediatric Audiologists from the local acute trust, Sensory Support Teachers, and Specialist Paediatricians. The post holder is also required to make a significant contribution to developing the service, working in conjunction with the Head of Children's Community Audiology. The service covers B&NES, West/North Wiltshire, and East Mendip (Somerset) and travel between different clinical sites will be required. Essential

• MSc in Audiology or MSc Clinical Science (Neurosensory Sciences), Audiology modality or BSc in Audiology with evidence of M-:eve; training in paediatric audiology
• Certificate of Audiological Competence or BAA Higher Training Scheme (HTS) or Scientist Training Programme (STP) or equivalent specialist clinical experience
• Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Scientist (Audiology modality) or with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) as an Audiologist
• Evidence of CPD
• Current driving license
• 2 years post-registration experience in paediatric audiology
• Experience of autonomously coordinating and running own paediatric audiology clinic
• Experience of behavioural hearing assessment
• Experience of child/family-centred care
• Experience of working with children and their parent(s)/carer(s) with other disabilities
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the HCRG Care Group values and behaviours (care, think, do)
• Ability to work as an autonomous professional
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and diverse patient group
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively in a varity of settings
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of paediatric audiology
• Knowledge of health service practices and understanding of clinical governance
• Knowledge and understanding of Child Protection/Safeguarding procedures

Desirable

• British Sign Language (BSL) qualification
• Deaf awareness qualification
• Current membership of BSA/BAA
• Experience of peer review
• Experience of working with children, young people and families in the deaf community
• Research and audit skills
