An opportunity has arisen within South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) for a part-time Band 7 physiotherapist to support with providing paediatric physiotherapy, alongside adult ITU and surgical care.
This post involves sharing the delivery of the day to day physiotherapy service on the Paediatric ward, with the other Band 7 paediatric physiotherapist, while supporting with admission avoidance work, especially focusing on children with respiratory conditions. As such, outpatient clinics may form part of this role. The role additionally involves ensuring close links with the community paediatric team and other service providers.
In addition, the role will involve provision of physiotherapy on ITU and surgery, with a respiratory and rehabilitation focus, and will include service delivery and review, working closely with the other ITU and surgical physiotherapy team leads.
Working closely with the adult and paediatric physiotherapy team leads, the successful candidate will also assist in the review and delivery of staff on-call competencies and training, and ensure this service meets the needs of patients.
The appointed physiotherapist will be supported to develop their clinical and non-clinical skills through peer supervision and access to training.
There is a requirement to participate in the out of hours' service helping to provide cover at weekends and Bank holidays. This includes overnight on call.
To plan, co-ordinate, deliver, manage and provide clinical leadership to a high quality Physiotherapy service focused on the provision to children admitted to the Paediatric ward and the wider Children’s services at SWFT, and patients admitted to the ITU and surgical wards.
To ensure the service is efficient and evidenced based
To provide a source of highly expert specialised knowledge in Paediatric and ITU/surgical Physiotherapy.
Provide a highly specialist, high standard Physiotherapy service, assessing and advising on patients care and treatment, as an autonomous practitioner within the defined patient group.
Be a clinical lead for therapy staff across the service area providing clinical advice and training, and liaising with other appropriate Therapy leads to ensure an integrated service is provided for the service area.
Provide support and advice for the continuous development, co-ordination and evaluation of the Paediatric pathways (therapy and trust pathways).
Provide support and advice for the continuous development, co-ordination and evaluation of ITU and surgical pathways (therapy and trust pathways).
Provide a source of expert clinical opinion within the field of Paediatrics, ITU and surgery, and respiratory physiotherapy, for therapy staff and other health care professionals both internal and external to the Trust.
Provide knowledge and expertise on the Physiotherapy assessment and management of Paediatric, ITU and surgical, and respiratory in and out patients.
