Job summary

IKO North America is seeking a Packout Operator at their Chester location. The successful candidate will be responsible for fiber quality inspection, packaging, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for fiber quality inspection and rejection of defects.
  • Package fiber into boxes or tubs.
  • Inspect fiber production for defects every 15 minutes.
  • Work safely following all policies and procedures.

Packout Operator

Location: IKO Glass Fiber Inc., Chester, SC

Responsibilities
  • Exceptional attendance including working every day, on time, as scheduled.
  • Ability to work safely following all policies and procedures; safety is a condition of employment.
  • Responsible and accountable for fiber quality inspection and rejection of defects.
  • Responsible and accountable for fiber quantity count and inventory records.
  • Assign all product identification labels or tickets.
  • Check quality of product: inspect fiber for product defects.
  • Package fiber into boxes or tubs.
  • Inspect fiber: every 15 minutes and document inspection checks per work instructions.
  • Inspect fiber production on belt deck for defects.
  • Inspect fiber conveyors and "picker rolls" for dry fiber, clumps, and fiber build up.
  • Weigh, package, seal, and label all fiber production.
  • Utilize reports to gather information, monitor progress, and implement corrective action.
  • Follow written and verbal communications and instructions.
  • Work safely with no accidents. Maintain acceptable housekeeping. Participate in the plant’s safety and housekeeping initiatives.
  • Work effectively as a team player and demonstrate teamwork with peers and management in every department and level.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job as assigned by management.
  • Possess working knowledge of scale set up.
  • Any and all duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • Ability to work at times in a high temperature environment.
  • Frequent lifting or moving materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Required to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule including working days and nights and rotating frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and grasp.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights.
  • Ability to work overhead for long periods of time.
Work Authorizations and Travel
  • Some travel.
  • I-9 verification required.
