Charlie Bigham's Quarry Kitchen in Wells is hiring a Packing Team Member for a Friday to Sunday day shift. This permanent 34-hour week offers a competitive hourly rate with overtime and a strong focus on quality and efficiency.

You’ll contribute to the final stage of production, ensuring meals meet high standards before dispatch. The role includes operating packing equipment, meeting hygiene standards, and working in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Identify and remove dishes that don’t meet quality standards using specialist equipment.
• Measure toppings and finish dishes to a high standard.
• Refill packing machines with sleeves or boxes and stack boxed dishes onto pallets.
• Move completed pallets to Logistics and maintain a clean, hygienic workspace.
• Complete food preparation records and logs and handover shifts effectively.
• Flag equipment issues and contribute to meeting daily production plans.

Job Introduction

Our Packing Friday to Sunday shift offers full‑time hours (34) condensed into just 3 days, meaning you’ll have Monday to Thursday off every week — more time to rest, recharge and enjoy life outside of work.

As part of the Packing Team, you’ll play a key role in the final stage of our production process, ensuring our dishes meet Bigham’s high standards before heading out to our customers.

• Friday: 7am – 5pm
• Saturday & Sunday: 7am – 7pm

Main Responsibilities

Main responsibilities

As a Packing Team Member, you will:

• Use specialist equipment to identify and remove dishes that don’t meet Bigham’s quality standards
• Carefully measure and add toppings to finish dishes to a high standard
• Refill packing machines with cardboard sleeves or boxes
• Accurately stack boxed dishes onto pallets and move completed pallets to Logistics
• Maintain high hygiene standards and a clean, tidy workspace
• Complete food preparation records and logs
• Carry out effective and accurate shift handovers
• Flag any equipment issues within your area
• Work as part of a fast‑paced team to achieve the daily production plan

You’ll also need:

• Confidence working with technology and machinery, including packing and quality‑check equipment
• A willingness to learn how to use existing and newly introduced packing equipment
• The ability to regularly lift boxes of up to 20kg
• A positive and reliable approach to work
• A desire to develop your skills and grow as part of the Bigham’s team

Experience in a packing, machinist or food production role would be beneficial, but isn’t essential - full training will be provided.
