Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a proactive Packaging Engineer to act as the primary boots on the ground engineering presence at their Stockton facility. This role offers high autonomy and complete project ownership to design, optimize, and implement packaging solutions that protect products and reduce transport damage.

You will collaborate across supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing, use 3D CAD to develop packaging concepts, read CAD drawings, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• CAD software proficiency and ability to read/interprete CAD drawings.

Responsibilities

• Packaging Design & Review: Design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions for a wide range of industrial components using 3D CAD software.
• CAD & Technical Drawings: Read, interpret, and review technical/CAD drawings to ensure alignment with safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analysis and risk-based decision-making to minimize transportation damage and optimize returnable packaging systems.
• Supplier & Site Collaboration: Provide detailed specifications to suppliers, coordinate packaging approvals, and manage relationships across supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing teams.
