Job summary

Randstad CPE seeks a CAD Engineer to join a global manufacturer in Stockton-on-Tees. You will lead packaging design, optimise solutions, and drive cost, safety and quality improvements, with occasional travel to supplier sites.

The role requires strong CAD skills, 3D design review capability, and proven project leadership. You’ll collaborate across functions, balance cost and performance, and support sustainability goals in a busy packaging environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in industrial packaging or material handling equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD software with 3D CAD for design reviews and CAD drawing interpretation.
• Strong project management with demonstrated leadership.
• Excellent communication to influence and collaborate across levels.
• Ability to balance cost, performance and sustainability considerations.
• Familiarity with global supply chains and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and optimisation of packaging solutions meeting safety, quality, delivery and cost targets.
• Provide specifications to suppliers and coordinate with logistics and cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate materials, machinery and automation and report results regularly.
• Drive continuous improvement using risk-based decision making and root cause analysis.
• Adhere to packaging development processes and approve packaging for product lines.
• Occasional travel for supplier visits and training at other facilities.
