Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which is proud to be rated by Ofsted as 'outstanding' in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
Our Senior Management Team is supported by a small team of Personal Assistants (PAs), who have individual areas of responsibility while also contributing to the work of the wider team. As PA to the Vice Principal, you will provide a wide range of administrative support, including curriculum and quality, assessment, risk management, examinations, staff development and College policies. You will also support the administration of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), coordinate meetings and events, manage the Vice Principal's diary and assist with the preparation of reports and papers for Governors and the Board.
This is a varied role which requires excellent organisational skills, initiative and the ability to manage a busy and changing workload. You will be responsible for preparing correspondence and documentation, taking minutes, monitoring action points and ensuring that important deadlines are met. You will also work closely with colleagues across the College to support staff development activities, College events and inspection requirements, as well as providing administrative support to other members of the Senior Management Team as appropriate.
You will be educated to A level or equivalent as a minimum, with excellent IT, communication and organisational skills. You should have experience of working in a demanding administrative role, be able to prioritise effectively and maintain the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality. A flexible and proactive approach, together with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, will be essential. You will also be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and to supporting the College's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team, working closely with senior colleagues and contributing to the effective running of the College.
Our staff are at the heart of what we do at the College, we are proudly anti-racist and our motto is 'Counting in ones' which applies to staff as well as the students. We offer special leave for various special occasions, support from the Lead Counsellor, staff-run groups, staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, '5 days of Christmas' treats, end of term meals and activities and bike and computer loans to name but a few of our initiatives.
We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. To that end, a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required in the event of an individual being offered a position within our College. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
