Job summary

Disability North is recruiting a Personal Assistant to support a 13-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy and Chronic Lung Disease in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role includes weekend work, personal care, feeding assistance, and helping him access community activities in a wheelchair-friendly setting.

You must be a driver with your own wheelchair-adapted vehicle, able to communicate with the child, and collaborate with the family for activities such as parks, pools, cinema, and sports events while

Qualifications

• Experience with children who have disabilities and complex needs.
• Good physical fitness for helping with transfers and wheelchair use.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the child and family.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including assistance with toileting.
• Support activities and outings to parks, pools, cinemas, and sports venues.
• Transport in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle and ensure safety.
• Assist with feeding and communicating to understand needs.
