Job summary

Blue Sky Brokers is seeking a PA/Carer for a joyful 10-year-old boy who is non-speaking and non-mobile. The role focuses on providing safe, 1:1 support to access the community, build confidence, and enjoy activities outdoors and in parks, farms, and pools.

You will assist with feeding, personal care, and daily routines while monitoring breathing and seizures. The position is part-time, permanent, with Saturday and Sunday hours, based in Eccles.

Qualifications

• Experience in caring for non-verbal, non-mobile individuals is advantageous.
• Ability to monitor seizures and administer emergency meds if trained.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, 1:1 care and support independence in the community.
• Feed liquids and soft foods; assist with personal care including nappies.
• Monitor breathing, respond to distress; seizure awareness and Buccolam if required.
• Keep him warm outdoors; build rapport using his communication cues.
• Support with activities like walks, trips to farm, feeding ducks, swimming.

Your role is to provide safe, supportive, 1:1 care while helping him experience independence and joy beyond the home environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Feeding: prescribed liquid feeds approximately every 4 hours

Assisting with soft food meals

Full personal care, including nappy changes

Monitoring breathing and responding appropriately

Seizure awareness and support, including administering Buccolam Midazolam if required

Ensuring he is kept warm outdoors, as he cannot regulate temperature independently

Building rapport and getting to know his unique communication cues

Hourly Rate: £12.71

How will the hours be used: Saturday and Sunday

About Me

A joyful 10-year-old boy with a complex medical background including a rare genetic epilepsy condition similar to Rett Syndrome. He is non-speaking and non-mobile, requiring full support for all aspects of his care.

He:

Requires full assistance with feeding (liquids and soft foods only)

Requires full personal care

Experiences anxiety and episodes of disordered breathing (lips may change colour)

Has Focal Epilepsy and associated seizures

Uses a wheelchair full time

Can stand only with full adult support

Despite his challenges, he has a wonderful, infectious smile and enjoys spending time in the community.
