Job summary

Marchant Recruitment in Oxford is seeking an outstanding Lead Practitioner of Chemistry to elevate practical science delivery and A‑Level performance. The role combines expert teaching with strategic STEM leadership, coaching staff, and enforcing CLEAPSS/COSHH safety standards.

You will work with senior leadership to assess and raise outcomes in KS4 and KS5, preparing Sixth Form students for medicine and science degree entry tests. January start.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with an honors degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
• Proven track record of outstanding GCSE and A-Level Chemistry results.
• Experience in peer coaching, staff development, or subject leadership.
• Deep practical laboratory capability and CLEAPSS/COSHH safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Model exemplary classroom practice across KS4 and KS5 Chemistry.
• Lead whole‑faculty coaching and peer observations on chemistry topics.
• Audit schemes of work, required practical frameworks, and safety logs.
• Analyse assessments to design targeted revision for high‑attaining and borderline students.
• Mentor early‑career science teachers to build confidence in chemistry.
