Job summary

Candl Recruitment Ltd. is partnering with a high-achieving South East London school to recruit an Academic Tutor and UCAS/Oxbridge Coach. The role focuses on mentoring Years 11–13, guiding UCAS and Oxbridge applications, and coaching students toward competitive university outcomes.

You will work closely with ambitious learners, helping them develop study habits, confidence, and a clear path to access top universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree from Oxford or Cambridge University.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong academic ability.
• Confidence working with ambitious and high-achieving students.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Genuine interest in education and widening access.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

• Support students with UCAS applications.
• Provide guidance on personal statements.
• Help prepare students for Oxbridge interviews.
• Support preparation for relevant university entrance assessments.
• Deliver academic mentoring and tutoring.
• Help students develop confidence, independence and strong study habits.
• Support wider enrichment and university-access programmes.
• Work with staff to identify and develop high-potential students.
• Contribute to EPQ and wider academic initiatives where required.
