Job summary

SPEAR invites applications for a Hostel Night Worker to provide a safe, welcoming overnight service for hostel residents in Richmond. You will contribute to safeguarding and support, staying alert to risks and following organizational procedures.

Working with daytime teams, you will keep accurate records and handovers to ensure continuous support, helping residents feel secure in a calm, well-managed environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people affected by homelessness or rough sleeping.
• Strong safeguarding and risk assessment knowledge.
• Ability to respond to incidents promptly and escalate concerns as required.
• Calm, compassionate approach in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, welcoming overnight service for hostel residents and safeguard welfare.
• Stay alert to risk, respond to incidents and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Keep accurate records and clear handovers with daytime colleagues to ensure continuity.
• Remain awake and attentive during the 21:45–08:45 shift on a rota basis.
