Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is hiring an overnight driver to support the GP out of hours service. Based across West Berkshire Community Hospital (Thatcham) and Wokingham Hospital (Wokingham), the post involves chauffeuring medical staff to home visits and assisting with clinical tasks as part of an urgent care team.

Role requires a valid manual driving licence, flexibility for nights and weekends, and computer literacy.

Qualifications

Flexibility with working hours including evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
Computer literate with ability to navigate common systems and software including internet and email.
GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualification is required.
Advanced Driving Certificate or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Drive medical staff to home visits in a safe and timely manner.
Maintain effective communication with dispatching staff.
Ensure all medical bags and equipment are stowed at the start of each duty session and assist locating bags/equipment.
Complete checks of vehicles before each duty, including fuel, water and oil levels; handover vehicles with adequate fuel and cleanliness.
Work as part of a team to support patient care within Urgent Care settings.
