Job summary

WSP UK is seeking an Engineer to lead the overhead transmission line design team on projects from 11kV to 400kV. You will supervise design engineers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to feasibility studies and client proposals.

The role involves PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structure analysis, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. A degree in engineering and 400kV experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent in Electrical/Power.
• Experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
• Experience on upgrading projects with High Temperature Low Sag conductors.
• Willingness to travel as projects dictate.
• Knowledge of galloping studies, EMF and Wake effects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical evaluations and problem-solving guidance for the team.
• Prepare proposals outlining timelines, resources, budget and goals.
• Provide technical input during project implementation and public consultations.
• Lead engineering and design activities for OHL projects including PLS-CADD modelling.
• Conduct feasibility studies and ensure compliance with standards.
• Identify technically preferred solutions for client adoption.
• Participate in industry groups like CIGRE and IEEE.
