Job summary

OCU Group is seeking an experienced OHL Supervisor to lead on-site overhead line construction activities from Shinfield. You will mentor delivery teams, enforce safe working practices, and ensure projects meet quality and safety standards across major power infrastructure schemes.

This permanent, full-time role requires strong leadership, a solid understanding of electrical distribution, and the ability to coordinate outages and equipment needs on a busy site in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising overhead line construction or electrical distribution in utilities or power sectors.
• Solid knowledge of safe systems of work and site safety requirements.
• Proven ability to lead field-based teams and coordinate multiple activities.
• Good understanding of electrical distribution or overhead line construction practices.
• Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage site issues and make quick, effective decisions.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in DNO, ICP, or electrical distribution network environments.
• Desirable: NRSWA, IOSH or related utility sector qualifications.
• Knowledge of NERS requirements and utility industry compliance frameworks is a plus.
• Familiarity with SAPs and outage planning processes.
• Experience with workforce management systems or digital reporting tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day overhead line construction activities on site.
• Brief teams on planned works, ensuring safety and adherence to procedures.
• Monitor site performance to meet quality, programme, and safety standards.
• Ensure teams have PPE, plant, tools, and equipment to work safely.
• Liaise with Senior Authorized Persons and stakeholders to coordinate outages and network requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety observations to maintain compliance.
• Review project documentation, risk assessments, and records for accuracy.
• Support, coach, and mentor operational teams to promote best practice.
• Identify site issues and implement solutions to minimise disruption.
• Communicate project changes, risks, and commercial events to teams and management.
