The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Outwards Operations/Reinsurance Manager to lead on all aspects of our outwards reinsurance activities. The role is critical to providing oversight of the reinsurance purchasing activities of our key outsourced provider and ensuring efficient and accurate post placement operations. You will be responsible for administering our outwards reinsurance program, overseeing the activities of our outsourced provider as it relates to outwards reinsurance activity, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Key Accountabilities

• Coordinate and provide oversight of the outsourced reinsurance administration activities, including premium calculation, recoveries, claims reporting, and data management.
• Lead relationship with key outsourcing partner in respect of outwards reinsurance activities including monitoring adherence to binder terms and management of SLAs and KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal governance standards.
• Analyse and report on reinsurance market trends and developments that may impact the company's risk strategy.
• Support the business planning and outwards RI renewal processes by overseeing the preparation of underwriting information, exposure data, and loss history summaries.
• Work with the business and our outsourcing partner to deliver analysis that assists in developing, implementing, and managing the company's outwards reinsurance strategy in line with business objectives.
• Prepare management reports and presentations for senior leadership and Board committees as required.
• Manage the reinsurance credit risk and collaborate with underwriters, actuaries and finance to ensure our outwards reinsurance program is placed in accordance with risk appetite
• Work with treasury and finance to manage outwards reinsurance collateral.
• In conjunction with actuarial and underwriting, monitor the performance and effectiveness of our outwards reinsurance program and recommend improvements where necessary.
• As the business grows, support with the design, placement and administration of outwards reinsurance contracts without support from our outsource provider.
• Lead and develop team members (if applicable) to support the growth and effectiveness of the reinsurance function.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in insurance, finance, actuarial science, or a related field (professional designations such as ACII, CPCU, or equivalent preferred).
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in outwards reinsurance, either within an insurer, reinsurer, or broker.
• Strong technical knowledge of treaty and facultative reinsurance across multiple lines of business.
• Solid understanding of insurance and reinsurance financials, including loss triangles, IBNR, and capital models.
• Highly organized with strong project management abilities.
• Analytical mindset with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
• Experience with reinsurance administration systems and exposure management tools is an advantage.
