Job summary

Peabody is recruiting a Specialist Outreach Support Worker to help people experiencing homelessness in West Essex access housing, treatment and support. In the Essex Drug and Alcohol Street Support Team, you’ll build trusting relationships and provide practical advocacy to help individuals move forward.

You will engage rough sleepers, complete risk and needs assessments, coordinate with housing, welfare and health services, and maintain accurate records with safeguarding in mind.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting adults with complex needs in a housing/outreach context.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies.

Responsibilities

• Engage with rough sleepers and people experiencing homelessness, providing assertive outreach and person-centred support.
• Build trusting relationships to help access accommodation, treatment and health services.
• Advocate on behalf of customers and help navigate housing, welfare and support services.
• Promote financial wellbeing and access to benefits and support.
• Complete assessments and maintain accurate records with safeguarding in mind.
• Work with statutory agencies and partner organisations to achieve outcomes.
• Contribute to Peabody's mission to reduce rough sleeping and improve lives in Essex.
