Job description

Full-time, 35 hours per week | £26,073 - £28,425 | Based at our offices in Clapham, near Settle.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual who enjoys working with people and is passionate about creating opportunities for others. This is a rewarding opportunity to support the delivery of our inspiring outreach activities that help people from underrepresented and disadvantaged communities access nature, improve wellbeing and take positive action for the environment.

About Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust

We are a small charity doing big things to help to protect and enhance the People, Landscape and Wildlife of the Dales.

For 29 years we have delivered diverse and inspirational projects, helping to plant 1.6 million trees and securing the future of more than 850 hectares of wildflower hay meadows, creating habitats for our wildlife and combatting climate change. We are passionate about inspiring disadvantaged groups and future generations to care for this special area.

Inspired by nature, we work to create a welcoming, safe space in the Dales rich in diversity, connection and belonging. Together with our partners, we support organisations and individuals from some of our most underrepresented communities to independently access nature with authenticity, integrity and compassion.

About the role

As Outreach Project Assistant you will support the delivery of YDMT's Green Futures outreach programme, helping people from targeted communities to enjoy, learn about and help conserve our unique landscape, wildlife and communities here in the Yorkshire Dales.

You'll assist with a wide range of outdoor activities and initiatives that provide health, wellbeing and environmental benefits to diverse groups and young people. Working closely with project staff, you'll help develop relationships with community groups and partner organisations, support event planning and logistics, maintain equipment and resources, and contribute to monitoring and evaluating the impact of our work.

The role also offers opportunities to support wider Green Futures projects and collaborate with colleagues and partners to help break down barriers to accessing nature, encourage environmental action and foster a stronger sense of connection with the outdoors.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring that our outreach activities are welcoming, inclusive and responsive to the needs of the communities we work with.

About you

We're looking for someone with experience of supporting engagement activities in the natural environment, particularly with young people, underrepresented communities or people with disabilities. You will be passionate about helping others access nature and understand the positive impact it can have on wellbeing and the environment.

You’ll have excellent organisational and administration skills, be confident building relationships with a wide range of people and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Experience of coordinating bookings, resources and project administration, alongside collecting monitoring and evaluation information, will help you succeed in the role.

Most importantly, you’ll share our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, be enthusiastic about supporting people from all backgrounds, and embody our values of being creative, caring, honest and enabling.

We believe this role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in community engagement, environmental outreach or the charity sector while making a genuine difference to people and nature.

Deadline for application: 9am Friday 21st August 2026.

Interviews will be held week commencing 31st August.
