Sennen Education are working with a large Specialist School who is currently recruiting for an Outreach Learning Mentor to join their team. The setting provides a specialised educational programme for children who have an Education, Health and Care Plan, specifically Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

As an Outreach Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of young people, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers and fulfil their potential.

Your Role as an Outreach Mentor - Key Responsibilities

Make a Difference Every Day
Connect with hard-to-reach young people through activities such as sports, music, dance, and more, offering positive guidance and crucial mentorship, becoming the role model they so desperately need.

Support Mental Health & Well-Being
Create safe spaces for discussions around mental health, supporting the students to overcome challenges and to thrive in a positive learning environment.

Work with SEN Students
Deliver tailored support to young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring each student's unique needs are met with empathy and respect.

Provide Pastoral Support
Build meaningful connections with students, guiding them academically and socially through trust, empathy, and encouragement.

Engage Students through Interactive Activities
Lead sports, arts, and creative activities that inspire and motivate, helping the student engage with their education.

Create a Safe, Inclusive Environment
Encourage positive behaviour, helping students overcome emotional challenges and behave positively whether in or out the classroom.

Mentor Young People with SEN
Adapt your strategies to meet the specific needs of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring each individual receives the support they need.

Deliver Positive Behavioural Support
Utilise training in positive behaviour management to de-escalate challenging situations and cultivate resilience.
