The role involves community engagement, emotional support, and collaboration with qualified nurses to promote independence and well-being. Ideal candidates will have experience with long-term mental health challenges, strong communication skills, and a passion for helping others.
At Turning Point, we support people across England with mental health issues. We make a real difference in their lives by providing personal, flexible, and realistic support to improve their quality of life in their communities. Passionate about people, you'll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career as you gain experience, training, and education to progress with us.
Raising the bar for people-centred outreach services, you’ll enable individuals to learn skills and knowledge to understand and manage their own situations more independently. No matter how complex someone’s mental health needs, you’ll provide support that helps decrease isolation, promote community integration, and help individuals seize new opportunities.
The role involves rotational shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. We are happy to discuss flexible working options to promote work/life balance.
You will support clients in the community across Manchester, encouraging engagement in drop-in activities at community centres, attending medical appointments, and supporting social inclusion activities. You will work with clients in their homes, assisting with medication management, activities of daily living, and providing emotional support, reporting concerns to the Outreach Manager or Nurse Manager.
Working alongside qualified nurses as an Outreach Support Worker, you’ll recognize signs of deteriorating mental health and help implement interventions. You’ll promote independence, well-being, and healthy lifestyle choices, and participate in activities such as walks, theatre trips, gym sessions, and social network building.
We are ideally seeking an Outreach Support Worker with experience working with individuals with long-term mental health issues and a solid understanding of their challenges and recovery models.
You should be a great team player with energy, strong communication skills, a flexible approach, and a positive attitude to achieve targets in a challenging environment. Empathy, patience, and understanding are essential, along with a passion for helping others. A driving license is highly desirable.
