Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust in Poole is seeking an experienced Band 7 Clinical Lead to join the Outpatients team. You will provide professional and operational leadership of the outpatient department and Treatment Centre, ensuring safe, effective, patient-centred care.

The post holder will lead outpatient nursing teams, drive governance, quality improvement and service development, and work flexibly across UHD sites, including weekend work. Interview on 25 November.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in clinical leadership within outpatient services.
Thorough understanding of national guidance, safety standards, and governance requirements.
Experience with WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and infection prevention.
Flexibility to work across UHD sites.

Responsibilities

Lead nursing teams across outpatient areas.
Ensure safe, effective, high-quality patient-centred care.
Manage day-to-day running of the department and service delivery.
Oversee workforce planning, staffing for clinics, and the appraisal process to identify training needs.
Support clinical governance, risk management, incident reporting and quality standards.
Provide operational and clinical leadership, including cross-site and weekend working.
