Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Health Care Assistant to support outpatient care teams, working under supervision in the out-patient department to deliver fundamental patient care within a safe environment.

You will provide caring, compassionate support, assist with clinical notes and documentation, and communicate with patients, families and colleagues to uphold dignity and respect during outpatient consultations.

Qualifications

• Caring and communication with kindness and compassion
• Personal care including catheter care (if required)
• Nutrition and Hydration support
• Pressure Area Care
• Documentation including food & fluid charts and outcome sheets
• Moving and handling
• Environmental maintenance
• Assist with the preparation of medical notes to facilitate the running of clinics
• Escort to other departments (except theatre)
• Instigate Emergency procedure
• Completion of accident / incident forms
• Promote person centred values and provide support for patients wellbeing and fulfilment

Responsibilities

• Support patients, clinicians and colleagues during outpatient consultations
• Provide fundamentals of care in the hospital to ensure high standards and patient safety
• Treat patients, family, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity and courtesy
• Work within the out-patient department as part of a team supporting patients and clinicians

Driver with access to a vehicle

Education

GCSE Maths & English grade D or above or Level 1 functional skills in Literacy & Numeracy

QCF or NVQ Level 2 in a health related subject
