Job summary

Peter Symonds College in Winchester seeks two Student Safety Officers to join our security team. The posts are available as full-time or part-time on a term-time basis, ASAP start, with interviews on 20th October and a closing date of 12 October 2026 08:00.

You will patrol college grounds, provide a visible security presence, monitor student behaviour and respond calmly to concerns. Previous security experience is not essential; commitment to safeguarding young people is essential.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to communicate effectively with young people and staff.
• Experience in security not essential, right attitude and commitment to safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the college grounds and buildings to provide a visible security presence.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors.
• Monitor student behaviour and respond calmly and professionally to concerns.
• Work as part of the security team to maintain a safe environment.
