Job summary

PERI is seeking an experienced Material Handler to support shipping and receiving in the yard and manage inventory control. You will operate a diesel-powered counterbalance forklift to move, stack, and organize inventory outdoors, with a strong emphasis on safety, attendance, and teamwork.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading trucks, counting, repackaging returns, and participating in Health & Safety meetings.

Qualifications

• Valid forklift license from a recognized training program (Canadian training is specified)
• 1–3 years’ experience operating a counterbalance forklift
• Experience organizing material outdoors
• Diesel counterbalance forklift experience up to 15,000 lb / 7,000 kg preferred
• Ability to handle large and small parts for material prep/movement
• Able to perform basic math for counts and part totals
• Commitment to health and safety practices
• Lifts up to 11 kg (25 lbs) regularly and up to 23 kg (50 lbs) occasionally
• Able to stand/walk up to 8.75 hours per day and operate a forklift for extended periods
• Work outdoors year-round; exposure to dust, dirt and truck traffic
• Willingness to overtime on weekdays/weekends
• PPE must be worn as required
• Identify/report hazards and unsafe conditions
• Commitment to personal and coworker safety

Responsibilities

• Participate in shipping and receiving, loading/unloading trucks and picking orders
• Check for overages, damages and shortages; repackage returned materials
• Operate a diesel counterbalance forklift to prepare outgoing shipments
• Maintain pedestrian safety around machinery and forklift operations
• Support cycle counts and general inventory control processes
• Attend Health & Safety meetings and follow all safety policies
• Follow working procedures and use PPE as required
• Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions or accidents
• Contribute to a safe, efficient yard environment
