Job summary

Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) is recruiting Environmental Enforcement Officers in Doncaster. The role involves foot patrol, identifying environmental offences, and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices to members of the public. You will work outdoors, often in busy town centres, while explaining offences and recording evidence.

The role offers full-time hours, a 40-hour week, and a strong emphasis on independence with team support. Training and a uniform are provided.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and a confident, professional manner.
• Resilience and the ability to handle challenging conversations calmly.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Basic IT skills (report writing).
• Reliable, proactive and detail-focused.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• A driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Starting your day by heading out on foot patrol across busy town centres, high-footfall areas and residential streets.
• Observing public behaviour and identifying offences such as littering, dog fouling and fly-tipping.
• Approaching offenders confidently and professionally to explain the offence and issue Fixed Penalty Notices.
• Educating members of the public on their environmental responsibilities.
• Accurately recording evidence, statements and reports using provided systems.
• Working independently while remaining supported by a wider enforcement team and management.
