Job summary

Protocol Education are recruiting an Occupational Therapy Graduate to support pupils with SEND in a Ferryhill school. This is a full-time, term-time role starting September 2026, offering pay £92.63-£108 per day depending on experience.

You will work with pupils to develop fine motor skills, coordination and independence, while supporting sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing within a collaborative school team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy or due to graduate.
• Genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
• Patient, calm and empathetic.
• Understands sensory needs and individualised support.
• Can communicate confidently and work well as part of a team.
• Experience with children through placements, volunteering or employment is desirable, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND (autism, ADHD, sensory needs and physical needs).
• Help children develop fine motor skills, coordination and independence.
• Support pupils with sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing.
• Use practical and creative activities to encourage engagement and confidence.
• Work closely with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and help them achieve individual goals.
• Provide consistent, patient and encouraging support throughout the school day.
