Job summary

Portsmouth Water is offering an Operational Technology (OT) Systems Engineering Apprenticeship. You will gain hands-on experience in monitoring and controlling water systems, learning to install and optimise automation hardware and software.

The journey leads to a Level 4 Automation & Controls Technician qualification and a long-term career path. You will train at CEMAST in Gosport, commute to Havant, with a fixed-term contract spanning 48–51 months.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Technical Certificate in Engineering required.
• GCSE English and Maths grade 4/C or above preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn to install, maintain, support and optimise hardware and develop automation/control programs.
• Work with PLCs, HMIs and industrial networks across sites.
• Develop or modify automation/control system programs.
• Support and maintain safety devices within automation systems.
• Install, configure and program devices linked to industrial networks.
• Provide fault escalation support for rapid return to operation.
• Supervise installation of automation and control equipment.
