Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking an enthusiastic Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Orthopaedic Team, supporting patients undergoing elective surgery and trauma care. This fixed-term post runs until 31 March 2027 and offers a chance to develop specialist orthopaedic skills within a busy service.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess, rehabilitate, discharge plan and support patients, contributing to service improvement and enhanced outcomes.

Qualifications

HCPC registered and eligible to practise.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Passionate about delivering patient-centred orthopaedic care.
Strong clinical reasoning and organisational skills.
Interest in orthopaedics and rehabilitation.
Flexible with start/finish times as patient needs.
Previous acute care and orthopaedics experience essential.

Responsibilities

Assess and support patients undergoing elective orthopaedic procedures (hip/knee replacements).
Deliver rehabilitation and discharge planning.
Collaborate with physiotherapy, nursing, consultants and MDT.
Contribute to service development and quality improvement.
Provide education to patients and carers to maximise independence.
