Job summary

Circle Health Group seeks a Theatre Practitioner for Orthopaedic Scrub on a Bank basis at Woodlands Hospital, Darlington. The role supports the surgical team, prepares instruments, maintains sterility, and assists the anaesthetist, with care spanning intraoperative to discharge readiness.

The position requires registration (NMC or HCPC) and theatre experience, with strong infection control knowledge and the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or HCPC registration is required.
• Experience or training in a theatre environment (scrub/anaesthetics/recovery).
• Understanding of infection control and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly in a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterility for theatre procedures.
• Support anaesthetist with equipment prep, monitoring, airway management, and patient positioning.
• Provide postoperative care including pain and nausea management and discharge readiness.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Ensure equipment is checked and faults reported promptly.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for safe, efficient lists.

Education

Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)

Theatre environment experience
