Job summary

Circle Health Group's Kings Oak & Cavell Hospitals in Enfield seek a Theatre Practitioner to join the theatre team on a bank basis, covering both Cavell and Kings Oak during busy periods.

You will prepare instruments, maintain sterility, assist the surgeon and anaesthetist, monitor patients, manage pain, and ensure safe discharge, while adhering to infection control and working within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) eligible.
• Experience or training in a theatre environment.
• Understanding infection control and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and supporting the surgeon.
• Assist the anaesthetist with equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and support discharge readiness.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient surgical lists.
• Contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
