Job summary

Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury, part of Circle Health Group, is recruiting a Theatre Practitioner to join the Orthopaedic Scrub team on a full-time, 37.5 hour contract.

The role involves preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, assisting the surgical team and anaesthetist, and delivering post-operative care within a dynamic theatre environment. You will work flexibly to cover theatre lists and uphold infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse or ODP with theatre scrub/anaesthetics/recovery experience or training.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles.
• Able to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic theatre environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for multidisciplinary teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterility for surgical procedures.
• Assist surgical team and anaesthetist, monitor patient, manage positioning and discharge readiness.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Check surgical and anaesthetic equipment and report faults.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient theatre lists.
• Contribute to a positive, respectful theatre environment.
