Job summary

Woodlands Hospital in Darlington, part of Circle Health Group, has a Bank Theatre Practitioner – Orthopaedic Scrub vacancy. This “as and when required” role supports busy lists and provides cover during leave or absence.

You will assist the surgical team, maintain sterility, support the anaesthetist, and help ensure patient safety and smooth, efficient theatres. NMC registered or HCPC-registered ODP with theatre experience is essential, as is excellent communication and the ability to work under

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) registration required.
• Experience or training in theatre environment (scrub, anaesthetics or recovery).
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, maintain sterility, and anticipate surgeon needs.
• Support anaesthetist with equipment, monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care and monitor vital signs.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
• Work with multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient surgical lists.
• Support a positive, respectful theatre environment.
