Royal Sussex County Hospital - Orthopaedic and Vascular Physiotherapist (12-Month Maternity Cover)

The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, provides a range of services including general acute, specialist, and tertiary care across Sussex and the south coast of England. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Band 7 Orthopaedic and Vascular Physiotherapist to join our well-established service for a 12-month maternity cover. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in orthopaedics and vascular care.

Role Overview

Working within the Major Trauma, Orthopaedic, and Vascular Team (MTVO), you will lead a small team providing inpatient care on the Orthopaedic and Vascular wards. Your responsibilities include assessing and treating patients from emergency and elective admissions and participating in the Orthopaedic weekend service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the Orthopaedic and Vascular Physiotherapy team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, managing daily operations within the MTVO group.
2. Plan, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate physiotherapy services for vascular and orthopaedic patients.
3. Provide joint leadership across all BSUH sites for the orthopaedic vascular team.
4. Offer specialist advice to internal teams and external agencies, including discharge coordinators and social care professionals.
5. Supervise, teach, and appraise junior staff and students to ensure high-quality clinical care.
