Job summary

Opera North in Leeds seeks an Assistant Orchestra Manager on a maternity cover to support the Orchestra Manager in day-to-day operations, coordinating rehearsals, concerts, tours and recording sessions across the UK.

You will liaise with contract and freelance musicians, book additional players, manage attendance/records, and assist with health and safety, appraisals and the professional experience scheme.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Orchestra Manager with day-to-day management of the Contract Orchestra.
• Coordinate communication with contract and freelance musicians regarding the Company’s work.
• Engage wind, brass, percussion, keyboard and specialist extra players in consultation with key staff.
• Assist with rehearsals, concerts, tours and recording sessions across the UK.
• Maintain employment records including appraisals, NA’s, and media allocation.
• Ensure health and safety standards and administer first aid when required.
• Lead and coordinate auditions and appointments for the Orchestra with the Orchestra Manager.
