Job summary

University of the Highlands and Islands invites applications for an Optometry Clinical Tutor on a sessional basis in Scotland. The role involves teaching clinical skills to BSc Optometry students, supervising patient clinics, and supporting trainee development within the Centre for Rural Health Science.

The post requires GOC registration (Optometrist or Dispensing Optician) and a willingness to commit to at least 3 sessions per semester, each up to 4 hours. Salary is hourly on Grade 6 scale.

Qualifications

• GOC registered Optometrist or Dispensing Optician required.
• Sessional role requiring commitment to minimum 3 sessions per semester (up to 4 hours per session).
• Experience in teaching or supervising optometry trainees is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical skills teaching support and assist with delivery of clinical skills modules.
• Supervise volunteer patient clinic sessions and support students in clinical skills training.
• Contribute to the optometry curriculum delivery and trainee development.
