In October 2023, a new contract for the delivery of eye care services in the community came into force in Wales - Wales General Ophthalmic Services (WGOS). Under the new regulations, optometrists will be able to fully utilise their professional higher accreditations when delivering eye care at primary level.
Non-WGOS registered Optometrists can contact HEIW at heiw.optometry@wales.nhs.uk for information on mandatory training and NWSSP at nwssp-primarycareservices@wales.nhs.uk for registration information.
