Job summary

Thales in Glasgow is recruiting Manufacturing Technicians for the OME department. You will assemble mechanical and optical components from engineering drawings, align opto-mechanical systems, and perform functional tests to match production requirements.

The role is a permanent, 4-day week (Mon-Thu) with 9.25-hour days and flexible start times, plus onsite parking and canteen. Experience building mechanical assemblies and interpreting drawings is essential, along with clear communication and

Qualifications

• Experience building mechanical assemblies or sub-assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Strong communication with stakeholders and team members.
• Adherence to defined processes and instructions.
• Problem solving and iterative improvement mindset.
• Ability to work on own initiative when required.
• Eligible to obtain full SC clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex manufacturing operations to specification.
• Assemble mechanical and optical components to high quality standards.
• Align opto-mechanical systems and complete tests per production documents.
• Self-verify product quality and record results.
• Follow company processes and escalate blockers as needed.
• Log quality non-conformances and raise with QA or inspector.
• Contribute to diagnostics and root-cause analysis where possible.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within Industry.
• Utilise ERP/Palma tools for assembly and test tasks.
• Manage and record build configuration of product.
• Escalate health and safety issues to the Work Cell Manager.
