Optical Physicist - Complex R&D - Cambridge
A leading technology innovator in the heart of Cambridge's tech hub is seeking an optical physicist to join their dynamic team of engineers and scientists.
We are looking for individuals who love solving complex engineering problems and have a passion for optics, due to the nature of the work and the company's culture.
As an Optical Physicist, you will apply your engineering and physics expertise to design highly complex devices and hardware, aiming to achieve breakthroughs in innovation. Your role involves developing new ideas and inventions related to advanced technologies, taking concepts from initial design through to manufacturing.
The devices you'll work on include propagation systems, imaging systems, fibre optics, high-power and ultrafast lasers, fluorescence imaging, and light interaction with real-world surfaces.
You will join a well-established team of engineers, scientists, and innovators, with new projects in the pipeline as the company invests heavily in research and development.
To be considered, you should have experience developing optics-based technologies in a commercial setting, with strong academic background, first principles knowledge, and excellent mathematical skills. Please note, this role is within the defence industry and is open only to British nationals due to security clearance requirements.
